Smartmessages Privacy Policy for Direct Marketing Communications

Smartmessages (the data controller, contact details below) uses the service run by Synchromedia Limited (the data processor, contact here) to manage mailing lists in accordance with this privacy policy and current UK & EU data protection legislation, including GDPR and ePR. All data is held in the UK, and by subscribing you consent for your data to be transferred to the UK if you are outside the UK. Your personal data will only be used to provide subscriptions, and shall not be passed to any third parties. Data will be kept for as long as you choose to continue receiving mailings (every message contains an unsubscribe link), and for 6 months after unsubscribing for accounting and anti-abuse purposes.

The traffic generated from message openings and clicks on links within messages you receive is recorded, and by requesting subscriptions you agree to that use - you may opt out of this tracking using your browser's Do Not Track setting. We do not use tracking cookies or scripts at all.

You may view, edit, or delete data relating to you at any time via our subscriber portal.

About the Smartmessages Service

The marketing communication service owned by Synchromedia Limited is used by Smartmessages. The service uses web technologies to track, enforce, and facilitate the administration of subscriber information and the distribution of electronic mail.

Synchromedia never sells data or lists to third parties. Our account holders may have their own privacy policy (we do not own the data that we process for them), and they are required to provide you with information regarding how they handle your data under The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, which includes whether you have allowed them to pass on your information to third parties.

As Synchromedia is a UK company, we enforce compliance with the UK Data Protection Act 1998, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the EU Electronic Privacy Regulation (ePR) in our role as a data processor for Smartmessages, and as a data controller for our account holders.
